Become a new member Print

Entities eligible to become a MISS DIG member are those companies/organizations that own underground utilities that they wish to protect, as defined in Public Act 53, which include electric, gas, cable TV, telephone/communications companies, municipalities (including road and drain commissions) and pipeline companies. Owners having buried computer lines or fiber like school districts, universities, and plants can also become members.

All MISS DIG members pay an annual fee which varies as well as a one-time start-up fee.

The benefits for joining the MISS DIG System are as follows:

  • Members will be in compliance with Public Act 53
  • Receive MISS DIG tickets, to locate and mark underground lines to avoid possible damages and interruption of services.
  • Receive emergency tickets after week-day business hours and on holidays and weekends.
  • Member will vote on any matter that would come before the Annual Meeting (providing an executed agreement is on file in the MISS DIG Office).
  • Minimize the number of tickets using our gridding system.
