Entities eligible to become a MISS DIG member are those companies/organizations that own underground utilities that they wish to protect, as defined in Public Act 53, which include electric, gas, cable TV, telephone/communications companies, municipalities (including road and drain commissions) and pipeline companies. Owners having buried computer lines or fiber like school districts, universities, and plants can also become members. All MISS DIG members pay an annual fee which varies as well as a one-time start-up fee. The benefits for joining the MISS DIG System are as follows:
